Molybdenum disilicide is a silicon compound of molybdenum, also called molybdenum silicide. Since the radii of the two atoms are not much different and the electronegativity is relatively close,it has properties similar to metals and ceramics.The melting point is as high as 2030 ℃,and it has Conductivity,at high temperatures,a passivation layer of silicon dioxide can be formed on the surface to prevent further oxidation.Its appearance is gray metal color,which is derived from its tetragonal α-type crystal structure,and there are also hexagonal but unstable β-modified crystals.Structure,insoluble in most acids,but soluble in nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid.

Molybdenum disilicide is used in high-temperature anti-oxidation coating materials,electric heating elements,integrated electrode films,structural materials,reinforcing agents for composite materials,wear-resistant materials,and connecting materials for structural ceramics.It is distributed in the following industries:
