The relationship between foam stability of lightweight concrete foaming agent and cement setting time

Synthetic blowing agent overview

The synthetic foaming agent used for concrete is a highly concentrated and efficient liquid used to produce lightweight foamed concrete. Foamed concrete is also called foamed lightweight concrete (CLC).

CLC concrete has great potential in the construction of honeycomb lightweight applications, and the use of the correct type of foaming agent will make a huge difference in product properties (such as the mechanical properties of concrete and its resistance, etc.). Synthetic foaming agents are chemical substances that reduce the surface tension of liquids and are widely used in the manufacture of blocks, bricks, CLC concrete, etc. worldwide. Compared with other foaming agents, when high density is required, it can be formed with less energy. It is strongly recommended for use in the construction industry, as the demand for lightweight concrete continues to increase over time.

The influence of cement foaming agent on the quality of foam concrete is very important. A good cement foaming agent can make high-quality foamed concrete. The foam produced by high-quality cement foaming agent has good stability and can be constructed in a low temperature environment. The one-time pouring height is more than twice that of similar cement foaming agents.

The foam produced by the protein foaming agent has good stability, its liquid film is tough, and its mechanical strength is good. It is not easy to crack or excessively deform under the extrusion of the slurry. In addition, it has self-holding water, and the water on the liquid film is not easy to lose under the action of gravity and surface tension. It can maintain the thickness and integrity of the foam liquid film for a long time, so the foam can be retained for a long time without breaking

We know that any cementing material, including cement and magnesite, has an initial setting time, especially the most widely used ordinary Portland cement, the initial setting is mostly later than 45 minutes. If the foam stability is poor, cement and other cementitious materials have not initially set, and the foam produced by the foaming lightweight concrete foaming agent has burst, the foam cannot form pores in the concrete. Generally speaking, the minimum requirement for foam stabilization of cellular lightweight concrete foaming agent is to make the stabilization time 10-20 minutes longer than the initial setting time of the cementitious material. Since the initial setting time of various cementing materials is inconsistent, the requirements for the stabilization time are also different. Generally speaking, for foams with fast gelling materials, the stabilization time can be shorter, and for foams with slower gelling, the stabilization time should be as long as possible. Even if the temperature of the same cementing material is different, its initial setting time is also different, and the change is quite large. For example, ordinary Portland cement may start to solidify in less than 40 minutes in the summer, but will not solidify in 80 minutes in the cold winter below 5°C. Therefore, the stabilization time of the foam of porous lightweight concrete foaming agent cannot have a fixed specific standard, which should be determined according to the situation. In order to make porous lightweight concrete foaming agent foam suitable for various use conditions, it should be stable for as long as possible. The stabilization time should be as long as possible. Even if the temperature of the same cementing material is different, its initial setting time is also different, and the change is quite large.

The stabilization time of the foaming agent for lightweight concrete should meet the following requirements:

(1) When used for Portland cement and no accelerator is added, the stabilization time should be greater than 60min; ideally, the maximum value is 3h;

(2) When used in fast-setting cements such as sulphoaluminate cement, high-alumina cement, ferro-aluminate cement, and quick-setting Portland cement, the stabilization time should be greater than 30 minutes, preferably greater than 60 minutes;

(3) When used in magnesium cement, the foam stabilization time should be greater than 40 minutes, preferably greater than 80 minutes;

(4) When used in cementitious materials mixed with a large amount of fillers or active waste residues such as fly ash, the stabilization time should be extended. The larger the amount of filler or active slag, the longer the stabilization time should be.

The specific stabilization time of the foaming agent for porous lightweight concrete should be determined through a small test based on the principle that the mold does not collapse after pouring, the pores are not connected after formation, and that they are not excessively deformed.

Application of synthetic blowing agent

1. Foaming agent is used to make lightweight (clc) blocks and panels;

2. Blowing agent is used to fill the gap;

Foamed concrete is also very useful for filling voids. Because of its high mobility, it can even be poured into the most inaccessible places. It can be used for planned work, and can quickly provide stability and support in emergency situations;

3. Foaming A gentleman is used for roof insulation;

4. Foaming agent is used to mark CLC blocks, cast-in-place walls, bridge reinforcement wall structures, floor structures, lightweight prefabricated blocks, fire protection, sound insulation, etc.
