The synthesis of Zn3N2 nanoparticles was accomplished using the SGAC method. Prepare an aqueous solution of zinc nitrate in distilled water. Use citric acid as fuel. The precursors were mixed and heated on a 90°C hot plate. After removing the gel form a magnetic stirrer. Heat the gel to 250°C to cause it to ignite spontaneously. Crush the burned porous powder using a pestle and mortar. The powder is heated in a tube furnace under a nitrogen environment to obtain zinc nitride nanocrystals. The microstructure and crystallinity of the samples were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD) using an Xpert 3 (PANalytical) powder diffractometer to find out the crystal structure of the synthesized samples. A Rame-Hart goniometer (model 260) was used to study the oil-water interfacial tension after the introduction of Zn3N2 nanoparticles. The contact angle after surface treatment of Zn3N2 nanofluid was also measured to explore the ability to change wettability. Hanging drop experiments were performed to determine the oil-water interfacial tension and contact angle. The experimental setup includes a light source, CCD camera, cuvette, microsyringe, and droplet imaging software.
