Calcium stearate, molecular formula (C17H35COO)2Ca. White, odorless fine powder, absorbs water in the air. Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in hot ethanol and ether. Reacts with strong acids to generate stearic acid and corresponding calcium salts. Low toxicity.
